Oak Personal Training was created to provide safe, supportive exercise for people living with or recovering from medical conditions, treatment, or changes in health.
I bring together experience from both healthcare and fitness. I have eight years experience mostly in oncology and haematology, 6 years in the NHS, alongside over six years of training in and out of gyms learning various styles of training. This background allows exercise programmes to be designed with a strong understanding of treatment effects, fatigue, recovery, and long-term health considerations.
My approach is calm, adaptable, and focused on helping people rebuild confidence in movement at their own pace.
Alongside my professional experience, I also understand the challenges of treatment from a personal perspective. In 2017, I was treated for acute myeloid leukaemia and underwent chemotherapy and an allogeneic stem cell transplant, followed by ongoing recovery and complications, this was my first 2 years of haematology experience learning from an exceptional team.
During this time, movement and exercise became an important part of maintaining both physical and mental wellbeing.
Training often needed to change — sometimes gentle, sometimes brief, always adapted to how my body felt day to day.
This experience shaped my understanding that exercise during illness is not about performance or pushing limits, but about supporting recovery, independence, and quality of life.
Working with OAK means working with someone who understands that:
• energy levels can change week to week
• symptoms are unpredictable
• confidence may need rebuilding
• progress looks different for everyone
Sessions are supportive, personalised, and guided by both clinical awareness and real-world understanding.
